Stephen Roginson
After 10 years as a beverage marketer for start-ups and Fortune 50 companies, Stephen Roginson started his quest of opening the 1 st Nano-Brewery in Detroit. Batch Brewing Company began in 2013 with a successful crowdfunding campaign, raising over $25,000 of early seed money for the venture. Later in the year, Stephen went on to enter and win Hatch Detroit. In 2017, Batch Brewing Company earned a Motor City Match grand for the development of their second location, the ‘Funk Room’, slated to open in 2018 for the production of wild fermented beer and cider. With a strong belief in something he calls ‘Altruistic Capitalism’, Stephen developed the Feelgood Tap, a 501(c)3 that raises money for other nonprofits via craft beer sales. He serves as the Executive Director and Board Chair. To date, the Feelgood Tap has 30+ participating establishments and has raised over $200,000 for the Michigan ecosystem.
Stephen led the development of the Detroit Beer Experiment, an annual collaboration between every brewery in the city of Detroit. Currently, he’s also working to develop a Detroit area craft beverage guild, highlighting the multitude of producers that work in the Detroit area. He has been featured as a Ted X Detroit speaker, on Mashable, in Huffington Post, WDET, and many other local media outlets. Stephen has an incredible 16-year- old daughter named Ayla, and his wife, Diana Roginson, is Co-Founder of Rebel Nell and T.E.A., Detroit’s graffiti-jewelry visionaries and nonprofit.
