Why is Playa vs. Playa in the 2019 Comerica Hatch Competition?
Playa vs. Playa gaming is competing in the 2019 Comerica Hatch competition for the funds to market our business concept, grow and sustain our facility, and promote E-sports awareness in the city of Detroit by partnering with the Detroit public school systems to form Esports leagues and training as an extra-curricular activity for grades 7 through 12.
Playa vs. Playa intends to promote gaming as an inclusive activity for all children which leads to improved academics and student engagement.
Dr. Kristy Custer, principal of Complete High School in Maize, Kansas started an Esports league in her school. Her students saw an average increase in G.P.A. of 1.4 and a 95 percent improvement in absenteeism. Detroit students could benefit from these positive effects of Esports gaming both academically and socially. By winning the Comerica Hatch Competition, we will have the funds to operate our facility, as well as create and sponsor leagues within Detroit Schools.
