OVERVIEW
What do you get when you combine the passion of someone who’s been getting their fingernails dirty their whole life, with a driving desire to open a sustainable, creative business in the City of Detroit? Pot & Box: Detroit of course!
Pot & Box: Detroit will be a friendly force of local creativity, utilizing floral & garden design to interact with its community; to enable its employees to live an inspired life; and to better its industry through ecologically and educationally friendly practices. More specifically, we will offer a selection of fresh cut flowers, container gardening plants & supplies, and assorted horticultural lovelies through a storefront in Detroit’s Midtown or Corktown neighborhoods.

THE TEAM
The staff of Pot & Box: Detroit will be comprised of vibrant, forward-thinking dynamos. As part of our interest in helping to reinvent the City of Detroit, we will be hiring local creatives for multiple positions to steer the business.
Lisa Michelle Waud – Owner/Principal
Lisa Michelle Waud’s gardening life began with the innocent question, “what’s a geranium?” and she’s been inquiring about plants ever since. Her love of gardening grew while living in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii, but it was during Lisa’s travels she realized she’d rather be hardy in Zone 5b than a transplant in the tropics of Zone 12. Rooted by her education in horticulture, her fingernails have been dirty for over 15 years through service & retail experience, including establishing and managing a flower landscaping business in Northern Michigan.
Most recently, Lisa founded Pot & Box in Ann Arbor in 2008. Through managing the business, she has found an outlet for creativity, a source for establishing jobs, and a platform to connect with her community. As the owner/principal of Pot & Box: Detroit, Lisa thoroughly believes that the same business model can bring these benefits to the City of Detroit!
