OVERVIEW
While biking, walking, jogging or driving down Second Avenue in Detroit’s burgeoning Midtown neighborhood, take a quick detour through our alley and find yourself in one of the city’s most enchanting and unassuming destinations: Alley Wine!
Alley Wine is Detroit’s latest casual neighborhood watering hole, with the initial operating hours of 3:00pm to 12:00am, Thursday through Sunday. The bar will specialize in offering an affordable and rotating selection of wines from around the world, as well as a sampling of meat and cheese pairings. Occasional unplugged performances by local musicians (our liquor license permits a maximum of ―two entertainers at one time) will contribute to the venue’s relaxed ambiance, without impeding conversation or interfering with the educationally-oriented customerservice sought by those wishing to learn more about wine culture. In addition to our bar and food service, we also plan to supplement our revenue by retailing wine, beer, cheese, salami and other menu items.

THE TEAM
Lynne Savino – Partner
Lynne Savino, a longtime resident of Detroit, grew up in the suburbs, West Bloomfield to be exact. As the only child of two outstanding cooks, her love and passion for food started when she had her first oyster at the tender age of six. She could pour a beer, make a martini, and knew of cocktail hour long before she could indulge. Ah, a child of the 60’s and 70’s.
In October she will be taking the introductory test given by the Court of the Master Sommelier. Itis the first step to becoming a certified sommelier. Lynne is a true foodie, always sharing her love and passion of food with friends, family, strangers, and customers at the great parties she hosts with her husband in their Green Acres home.
David Knapp – Partner
Having grown up in Livonia, Michigan, David realized that his heart and passion would be in Detroit where he quickly moved upon receiving his B.S in Architecture from The Ohio State University in 2002. Spurred by his passion for architecture and urban development, David planted his roots quickly when he bought his first properties in the summer of 2003; an historic duplex, and a vacant lot in Detroit’s Cass Corridor neighborhood.
David has worked at several notable architectural firms before moving on to opening his own architectural office. While employed at Madison|Madison and Albert Kahn Associates, he authored the “Lower Woodward Facade Improvement Program” Design Guidelines and was Project Architect for one of the facade improvement projects, respectively.
Kurt Cieszkowski – Partner
Kurt has been a successful entrepreneur and senior level executive for both private and publicly traded entities and has devoted 27 years of management expertise to the startup, growth, and reorganization of various operating companies. At age 18, Kurt founded Energy Electric Assembly, and grew that business into a profitable entity within 2 years. The company was headquartered in Auburn Hills and had 11 offices located throughout the country. He then merged that company with 2 others, thus creating an operating entity which employed more than 200 people. 10 years later Kurt took the merged entity known as Connectivity Technologies public which was then publicly traded on the NASDAQ.
Kurt has 2 children and has been a resident of Detroit’s Midtown for almost 7 years. Kurt also sponsors and works with children within Cornerstone Schools.

Very grass roots endeavor, relevant location, and growing… This place is going to be a hit. Pehaps when the opportunity presents it’s self, you might want to have ‘Detroit’s Own In the Pocket’ provide the sound of music that serrenaded that area back in it’s humble yet edgy begining. detroitnthepocket@yahoo.com
Yes please come and play and keep voting for us.
Looks like a wonderful endeavor – congratulations and best of luck.
(One request … please, is it necessary to refer to the suburbs as dreadful? My hope is that we can create a region that demonstrates mutual respect. We need each other — now more than ever.)
no offense meant it was all written tongue in cheek like making martinis at the age of 10 please keep voting for us
Looks great! Having taught wine pairings/education for 17 years I can attest to the interest. Good Luck!

Good luck !!!!
I’d like to sample this wine with you someday Mr. knapp ~(-;
Yes that would be a great idea for Grosse Pointe considering the direction they have taken to make it more street friendly since I grew up there. We have family that have a vineyard in California with the worlds smallest tasting room if you want to serve a limited supply wine.
Lynne,
I have a small syrah vineyard in CA in the Russian River appellation, about 1/4 mile from Rochioli’s. A Michigan winemaker in 2007 made a delicious syrah from my grapes. I hope you will offer it in Alley Wine. My day job is being a philosophy professor at Wayne State, so I’d be happy to come and sign bottles and converse with your customers.

I ride past the alley every weekend on our bikely jaunt from the evil suburbs to downtown, Belle Isle and back. I expect a proper bike rack and feed station every time I pass by for my 397 votes.

I was wondering what you are up to… now I know. Congratulations!
