Vote totals for the four 2016 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest finalists are in, and the winners include a funky clothing store, porcelain maker, urban farm and catering business and a wellness center.

Now the public can vote for Bird Bee, Corbé, Coriander Kitchen & Farm or Meta Physica Massage through noon Aug. 26 for one of the businesses to be awarded the $50,000 grand prize for a brick-and-mortar business in Detroit, Highland Park or Hamtramck.

“Honestly, these choices are wonderful,” said Vittoria Katanski, executive director of Hatch Detroit. “In the past years, we have seen mostly food (entrepreneurs). Now we have more nonfood businesses, which shows a change in the retail environment. This is usually how it goes: restaurant and then retail.”

Another trend Katanski said she has seen is more of the entrants live in the city. “It’s not a requirement, but it shows that people who live in the city know (the kind of business) they want (in the city),” she said.
